'Little children from the moment they are weaned are making their way towards independence' - Dr. Maria Montessori.
Here at Notre Dame under the expertise and guidance of highly qualified and experienced Montessori teachers we strive to help our children to achieve this.
Our Montessori class caters for children from 3yrs and 3 months of age. We are affiliated to and recognised by the Irish Montessori Education Board [I.M.E.B.] thus ensuring that the highest standards are met.
Our fully equipped classroom creates an atmosphere which fosters and inspires a life- long love of learning. It is within this environment that the children develop spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, socially and physically. Through trained observation and individual knowledge of each child the teachers can develop a programme suitable for every individual. This enables each child to reach her potential at her own pace in a nurturing, non-competitive, non-pressurised and fun filled way. The Montessori class has daily outdoor time in a safe enclosed playground encouraging positive growth and development through play.
The Montessori class enjoy some school excursions throughout the school year to places of interest in the neighbourhood and to the theatre. They also attend our weekly school Assembly when all the pupils of Notre Dame Junior School come together as a family under the guidance of our Principal Ms Sisk.
Class runs from 9.00 to 12.30 .Mon to Friday. An aftercare programme runs on a daily basis anytime from 12.30 to facilitate parents who may require the extra time. Aftercare is fully supervised and children have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities such as role play, games, art & crafts etc. Please check the parent zone for more information.
