3rd Year Music Trip
National Concert Hall

On Monday 20th November, Junior Cert Music students enjoyed a bespoke guide to works on Junior Cert. Music syllabus, in the  in the National Concert Hall.  The students enjoyed hearing the RTE National Symphony Orchestra live and it was great for revision for the Junior Cert.

Today we went on a music trip to the National Concert Hall.  We took the Luas from our school to the city centre.  Once we arrived at the NCH we found our seats and the concert began.  The first piece was the William Tell Overture.  I've heard the piece lots of times in school, as we have to study it for our Junior Cert Exam, but to hear it live sounds much better and you can see all of the instruments which helps you with your study.  There were a few pieces that weren't on our course but will also help with revision as we got to hear every instrument individually and then together with the accompaniment.  We also heard Handel's Water Music Suite which is also on our Junior Cert course.  We learned about the composer and why he composed it and that it was played on a cold summers night for the King on a boat as they sailed down the river Thymes.  At the end the Orchestra played the Star Wars theme tune.  It sounded great.  I think this trip really benefited our study in Music.
